Description:
This inert grenade is marked on the bottom plug "No. 36 M MK 1". The exterior is marked 'FW", painted in brown lacquer with a green band and mustard color patch. Reference 'Grenade" British and Commonwealth Hand and Rifle Grenades", by Rick Landers, which states on Page 116, "The No. 36 grenade was by far the most enduring of all grenades despite the fact that it did not progress beyond the MK 1 version. It was the major fragmentation grenade in British service during World War II, the Maylayan emergency and the Korean war with production finally ending in 1972, 55 years after its introduction".
