LG37200 Mossberg .22 LR AR15 Clone Model 715T Tactical California Compliant 37200 variant Fixed Buttstock 10 round magazine NIB This is not an AR15, but it looks a whole lot like one. Mossberg is joining industry heavyweights in the AR-15 market such as Remington, Ruger, and S&W, so says Mossberg’s own factory blurb. Mossberg, they continue, wants to differentiate themselves in the market by going with a A2-style (carry handle) receiver instead of the A3-style. Featuring A2 front and rear sights with a carry handle picatinny rail if you want to mount optics. Most tactical .22s have a 16 inch barrel, but Mossberg has decided to go with an 18 inch barrel for a better sight radius and a more traditional look. The 715T also features a full length picatinny rail hand guard and a 10 round magazine. This is a fixed stock, California Compliant variant of the 715 Tactical Mossberg. Manufacturer is CBC Brazil, the company that brought us the excellent Nylon 66 clones back in the 1980s. Type is blowback action rimfire semi-automatic, so this is not an AR-15 action and does not qualify for Assault Rifle status in legally hostile jurisdictions, such as California, District of Colombia, Massachusetts, New York, and Cook County Illinois. Buttstock is M6 type, but fixed and not retractable. Magazine is 10 shot CBC manufactured blue steel, interchangeable with any Mossberg 702 series Plinkster. Receiver housing is solid molded so that it will not accept a 25 shot 715T magazine. Note that there is significant operational difference between the 715T and the AR15 family. The 715T’s side levers are the magazine release, not the safety or selector switch. This 715T’s safety is traditional push button, beside the trigger, that favors a right handed shooter. Sights are fixed post front, and windage and elevation adjustable aperture rear. The AR-15 type carry handle / sight housing is polymer construction, but it will accommodate any Weaver type handle mount scope base for an AR-15. Replacement pricing on similar rifles from competitors Colt, Ruger, and Smith & Wesson approach $500 apiece.
