Jeffery & Co., 13 King Street, St. James's London: A Very Unusual Back Action Sidelock Ejector Jeffery in 450/400 3" Nitro Express Double Rifle Made in 1901, 24" Ejector Chopper Lump Barrels, Dolls Head Extension, 1/4 rib with 1 standing & 3 folding rear sights, Lever release quick detachable mounts with a Leupold 1.5 x 5 scope, Carved fences, Double triggers, Bushed strikers, Grip cap that is engraved, Sling eyes, 14 3/4" LOP over a 3/4" leather pad that is removable, The proper and correct 450/400 weight of 10 lbs. 4 oz., 11 lbs 1 oz. with the scope, A complete and total restock by Mr. Paul Hodgins from Logan, Utah; Paul was born in England and was a stocker with Holland & Holland, then on his own and moved to the U.S. in 1983 as a stockmaker; Trust me, there are no apologies relative to his work, This very gun is one of the featured pieces on Mr. Hodgins at hodginsgunstocks, 95% engraving coverage of very nice scroll engraving, The barrels have been reblacked and now remain at 99%, No case colors remain, Very nice wood that remains as new since stocked with finish at 99%, The checkering at 99%, The bores are excellent with solid rifling from throat to muzzle, This is nice stuff here in a very hard to find Best Sidelock Jeffery double rifle. /////////////////////////// Jeffery was already well known at the turn of the century but notice was certainly taken with their impressive line of Double Rifles. They had a large range of cartridges from .280, .333, and 404, 450 #2, 475 #2 and the famous 600 Nitro. Jeffery was at the 13 King Street address until 1914, they moved to 26 Bury Street and then to 9 Golden Square in 1921. The Jeffery firm remained in business until 1955, in 1957 Westley Richards purchased the firm and then in 1959 it was merged with Holland & Holland.
