Wonderfull Sharps Sporting Conversion 45-70 Rifle
Aside from the Meecham conversions, Sharps rifle company only converted about 2000 sporting rifles using all Sharps original parts. They used the 1863 and 1865 carbines and filled the carbine sling area on left wrist. Everything else is standard Sharps including the deeply stamped Old Reliable on top of the 28" taperd octagon barrel and chambered in the best of all rounds, the 45-70 govt, a round that was readily available at ever western outpost and fort. Also stamped Sharps rifle co. Bridgeport Conn. in front of Old Reliable in a box. 45 A stamped at breech. Right side of action has 1852 pat. Left side is stamped with 1848 pat. Wood is impeccable with no chips or cracks of any kind and wonderful original finish that has not been touched. Rifle is equiped with a rare and very valuable C.Sharps Arms Co. stamped long range adjustable tang sight that retains lots of the original finish rest turning plum. Unmarked globe front sight. Barrel finish is nice clean smooth patina with as new factory marks. Receiver about the same . Mirror shiny bore with deep crisp rifling. Ever want a classic buffalo rifle that you could actually take to the range? Mfg circa 1877, right in the middle of the classic Buffalo era on the western plains. Serial number is under the tang sight and i did not remove. $6895
