Rock Island Arsenal 1903 .30-06 SPRG caliber rifle. Early original production 1907-1908. Re-barreled at some point with a 1919 dated Avis barrel. Refurbished for WWII as it has a WWII Era stock and trigger guard. Excellent bore and wood. 95% metal finish. Has an old original sling. It has a very unusual serial number that has an X stamped behind it on the receiver. No one seems to know what it means. It could mean that it is a duplicate serial number or possibly has something to do with the heat treating of the receiver. This rifle was produced with a single heat treated receiver. Therefore we are selling it as a non shooter for collecting only. Very unusual and seldom seen variation in very good plus overall condition.
