About Us: Hallowell & Co. incorporated as a full-time, federally-licensed firearms business in Greenwich, Connecticut in 1983. In 1999, we sold our Greenwich building to Griffin & Howe and moved to Livingston, Montana. Our primary interests lie in high quality, artisanal sporting guns in fine original condition---single shot rifles, custom rifles, double shotguns and double rifles by the best makers, from the beginning of the cartridge era to the present. We look forward to being of service.

Description:
28" O/U chopper-lump barrels with hand-filed matted ventilated rib and one fine brass bead, choked full & extra full. 14 5/8" Length of pull from single non-selective trigger to checkered wood butt. 1 1/2" - 1 3/4" Drop at comb and heel respectively. 1/4" Cast-off for a right-handed shooter. Stocked in highly figured European walnut with Anson pushbutton-release semi-beavertail forend, ebony-capped pistol grip, classic point pattern checkering with mullered borders, teardrops and vacant gold oval. Purdey/Woodward Over & Under action with bifurcated lumps, intercepting sears, cocking indicators, hold-open toplever, extended bottom tang, rolled triggerguard and manual top tang safety with SAFE inlaid in gold. Extensively engraved by Ken Hunt on mutedly coin-finished receiver: four gold-inlaid ducks landing on a cattail marsh on the left lockplate, four grouse flushing in a woodland scene on the right lockplate, three gold-inlaid woodcock rising on the underside and two gold pigeons on the triggerguard. Two tiny small-game animals hidden amongst the foliage. The landscapes of layer upon layer of grasses, brush, trees, forest and distant misty skies are absolutely stunning. And, all surrounded with deep-carved and burnished acanthus scroll. Maker's name flush-gold-inlaid in Old English lettering on both sides of receiver. Serial number inlaid in gold on triggerguard tang. Signed by Ken Hunt on both lockplates. Ken Hunt at his finest; perhaps his masterpiece. Weight: 7lbs, 7oz. London proofed for 2 3/4" Magnum cartridges in 1986. Engraving completed in 1987. Appears unfired. Retaining 99%+blue. Mechanically excellent. Tight. Excellent bores. In Casecraft oak and black ostrich case, lined with light green velvet. Fitted with chamber brush, two turnscrews, soft brush, rosewood cleaning rod, oil bottle, grease bottle, patch bottle, spare strikers in striker bottle, and snap caps. Featured on the David Trevallion montage of the works of Ken Hunt.
