EXCEPTIONAL PLAINS INDIAN TACKED SPRINGFIELD 1863 RIFLE-MUSKET. Circa 1865-75 prime use period. 100% original and untouched with beautiful patina and all original brass tacks. From a very old collection. Wonderful old calligraphic carving on the right side of the butt which may represent coups counted with two war shields at either end.. Also carved on the stock opposite the lock with similar shields. Old sling probably added during it’s early collection history. Exceptional and guaranteed genuine in every respect.
