The Winchester Model 88 was unlike any previously manufactured lever-action. It's design is essentially a lever-bolt action hybrid. A short-throw lever operated a three-lug rotating bolt, rounds were fed vertically from a detachable box magazine. This "bolt-action" feature in a "lever-action" allowed for the use of high-powered modern short-case cartridges with spitzer bullets. The Model 88 is the third largest selling lever action rifle in Winchester's production history. It has accumulated a large share of devoted enthusiasts for many generations and is still an exceptionally unique and reliable design even to this day.

Firearm is used but in excellent 95%+ condition bluing is in 99%+ with only a minor surface scratch under muzzle on last two inches of barrel. Wood stock shows virtually no signs of wear checkering is still very high and clean, no major marks in wood only a few light handling marks.
