Barrel is 2 3/4" long. The overall length is 6 1/2". Approximately .44 cal. The metal parts show the remains of a blued finish. There is considerable engraving. The bag shaped grip (walnut?) is in excellent condition. The action is strong but the hammer needs adjusting if you want to holdf up a bank with it. The barrel screws off to allow breech loading. The barrel is smooth bore. There are two proof marks under the barrel (English?). The lock is marked "C & ID Wolfe" on one side and " New York" on the other side. Believed to have been made between 1810-1820. Overall condition should be NRA-Very Good. Antique- no FFL required. This is the type of pistol a Lady or Gentleman would have carried for protection in a muff or pocket. A true piece of history. I am selling a large collection. See all listings under "Romsey".
