Good condition Winchester model 1897 SERIAL number: D 392316 . (1909) The 28" barrel is STAMPED choked FULL, as stated on the barrel, but the actual choke measures MOD.! Making this a good cowboy shotgun. Has a bead front sight, and the writing on the barrel is clear. Wood is good with a red rubber butt-pad, with a LOP 14 3/8" The metal is smooth grey mixed with brown patina, and surface freckling and not rusted. The ribbed walnut for-end is good, but dark from age. . Overall a good working gun.The bore has areas of roughness, and moderate pits half way down the bore.. This is the take-down frame model, with matching numbers. Action is smooth.I hope you like my wide selection of unusual guns, knives and gun parts.
