Description:
A nice Smith & Wesson Model # 1- Third issue (an improved issue over the 1st & 2nd issues). Frame retains 90% of the bluing with traces on the barrel and fluted cylinder. The rosewood birdhead shaped grips are in excellent condition, retaining most of the original lacquer finish. There is a "spur" trigger, also called a "suicide" trigger as there is no trigger guard. There are some scratches and minor  spots on the frame .The overall appearance is very nice and much nicer than most of these that I have seen. The cylinder holds 7 .22 cal. short cartridges and is removed for loading and unloading. The lock-up is tight and the action works well. There is no play in the hinge.  Only 131,163 of these were made between 1868 and 1881. The patent dates on the barrel are: April 3, 55, July 5, 59, and Dec. 18, 60. The trigger and hammer are checkered.

Antique- no FFL required.
