Description:
A nice English Flintlock pocket type pistol made by gunmaker Jones likely in either Birmingham or London between the years 1730 and 1844. . Caliber is .49 with a 3" cannon type barrel and an overall length of 8". The trigger guard is bright brass in excellent condition. The lock and barrel show the remains of a blue finish. The hammer is engraved and there are designs on the barrel. The action is strong and works properly..The plain bag type walnut grip and stock extend to the end of the barrel. The wood is in good condition with some dings mostly on the left side .. The "JONES" name is very legible on the lock. Based on the design of this pistol and the makers name, I feel certain it was made in England .No proof marks are visible although I did not look under the barrel. The ramrod looks original .. This should rate as NRA "Very Good" condition. Antique- no FFL required.
