Description:
#4788 Marlin 1893 OBFMCB 38/55 Sporting Rifle, antique (105XXX serial range), circa 1897 and so “antiue” with no nitro proofing), VG bore (about a “7” on a scale of 10) and crisp tight action. Fine smooth unpitted metal with THIN (but liberal) traces of both original bluing as well as cloudy grey case colors on the frame. Very nice wood, as well and no damage or significant wear of mention. The rear sight is the correct style low buckhorn sporting sight, but is a replacement off of a Savage rifle. The 38/55 was the largest caliber that the 1893 Marlin was made in and this is a much better-than-average specimen in the most desirable caliber. About VG++ as described. $1450
