Imman Meffert in Suhl Drilling with 16 gauge shotgun barrel and the rifle barrel being 10.75x58 rimmed or .43 Russian Berdan we think. Meffert was known for his quality work and this Drilling certainly is one of his better grade works. Barrels are 27 1/2"" long. Bores are good with some light areas of corrosion. Rifle barrel is good plus with strong rifling. (Note: This is a black powder gun only. Not for modern smokeless powder!) Barrels show 95% of their Damascus pattern. Gun is well engraved using very fine banknote quality game scenes such as a hunter with rifle stalking a stag and doe, a doe protecting her fawn against an attacking eagle, 3 doe and a stag in a woodland setting and a dog flushing a duck on a pond. Rifle barrel has a set trigger. Rifle barrel selector lever swings to the left to reveal a tip up peep tang sight. Butt plate has a bullet or cleaning rod trap door. Wood is a fancy European walnut. Checkering is good but shows wear from hunting use. High quality Drilling by an excellent maker.
