Turkish-Japanese Martini Rifle by Peabody. Very interesting gun! This gun was sold on a Turkish contract and so marked. It also has the checkered buttplate. The gun was subsequently sold to the Japanese Navy in a contract of about 7000 guns. Japanese markings are visible on right hand side of the barrel which say Meiji Year 13 and the cartouches are Japanese Naval markings. Gun is nice and sharp and has very good original finish. Extremely rare variant that most Japanese collectors are unaware of the existence.
