W. CLAUBERG CIVIL WAR STAFF OFFICER’S SWORD AND SCABBARD OF GEN. SHERIDAN TYPE CA. 1863. Almost identical sword carried by General Sheridan during the Civil War. See John Thillmann’s fine book “CIVIL WAR ARMY SWORDS” p. 399. 39” overall with 32” etched blade. Nickel alloy scabbard and hilt. Shark skin grip wrap and triple braided wire. Wonderful “EAGLE/E PLURIBUS UNUM” guard. All original and in very fine condition. Blade has all the original polish and the etched panels are almost as new. Nickel alloy in unpolished condition. Grip wrap and wire are in excellent condition. Scabbard one dent on each side between the ring mounts. These should be easily removed by a good sword restorer.
