Payment Types Accepted: Credit Card, Money Order, and Cashier's Check Description: This Garand's serial number is 410509 Barrel date is 6-40. The barrel is in very fine condition with no muzzle belling or flaring. The gas nut is the correct single slot style. It also has the short fork. All the parts with the exception of the rear sight and operating rod appear to be as issued to this rifle. The two parts mentioned are slightly latter replacements. The operating rod has the number 6 drawing number and is uncut. The rear sight is the lock bar sight that replaced the earlier style rear sight. All the other parts have the drawing numbers that would be correct for the serial number range. The stock cartouche is worn, in the same area at a angle is a triple AAA also worn condition. There are no wood damage or loss. There are some dents and scratches consistent with service use. I did purchase this gun from a vet's estate and was told that this rifle was carried by this vet since 1941- 42 to the end of the war. It has the early stock tools as issued. The rifle itself has most of the original parkerizing intact. There is no rust or poor care. The leather sling is a correct early World War Two issue Sling. Overall I would rate this Garand a 90% Condition. I need not say how difficult it is to find a early prewar Garand in pretty much intact condition. This would make any serious collector happy to own. This is a case with this rifle to leave it alone rather than try to replace these two parts mentioned with correct earlier issued parts. I believe that you can alter the integrity of this rifle by doing that. Curio&Relic F. 97 SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
