Description:

Heavy (8.5lb) 12 bore with doll's head and "Patent Solid Steel Through Lump", probably built as a fowling gun. Bbls are damascus 30"x2 3/4" silver gray with some pattern remaining. Good ribs, dolls head extension. Forend hook has been properly resoldered. Gun is tight and functions perfectly. Bores have light to moderate scattered pitting but are generally bright, measuring R 700 and L .702 (13 bore). Both bbls have about 15 thou of jug choke despite 13B 14M BP proofs, indicating that the bbls were probably cut from 32" (if so, a long time ago). Action is mottled gray, not pitted, with a good amount of fairly bold scroll engraving and good screws. Stock has good checkering w extra panel on POW knob, fading somewhat on forend, good finish, plain walnut proud to metal , no cracks or missing wood, with vacant brass oval and decent lined horn buttplate w spur. Ebony forend tip has an epoxy-filled hole to secure it to wood. LOP is 14 5/8" and drop at heel is 3", noticeably cast off (RH).
