Description:

Sharps New Model 1863 Civil War Rifle 52 Caliber. Iron furniture with patch box. 30” bbl.,47” overall length.  Marking near breech: NEW MODEL 1863.markings on bbl. SHARPS MANUFG.CO./HARTFORD, CONN. Markings left side of receiver: C. Sharps Pat. Sept.12th,1848, ,: C. Sharps’ Pat. / Oct./5/1852 upper front section of lock, R.S. Lawrence pat. April 12, 1859; metal markings are all very readable. Two cartouches on upper left of stock near receiver, AWM inspector marks on bbl and on receiver, “P” on bbl band. Walnut stock with oil finish. Ser. # 37101 (correct ser# range)

CONDITION: Barrel has 60%-70% blue,  bbl. bands are mostly silvered, and sight brown-plum, case hardening mostly grey/silver. Wood has only a few   dents, dings, etc. forestock and stock are fine. Bore appears to be in Excellent condition with 95+% of the rifling. Works perfectly mechanically. Is Excellent condition overall; excellent shooter-have your smith check it out. Nice old original Sharps percussion rifle –not much used and definitely  not abused. Hard to find these rifles in this condition; many of the Sharps carbines were factory refinished as conversions to cartridge, but few rifles.
