The brass butt-cap has high relief figural designs also. The banana shaped early lock has very fine chisel engravings, and works well.The gun was made for a wealthy gentleman, and most likely made it to the pirate trade when taken from it's owner. The ram-rod is false as is common for a cased gun where the ram-rod came with other accessories , now, long gone. This is the most ornate flint lock I've ever had!
