Description:
#4787 Marlin 1889 OBFMCB rifle, 32W (32/20 caliber) with VG/fine bore, fine tight smooth mechanics, 72XXX serial range, manufactured in 1892. The Model 1889 was developed by Lewis Hepburn (who also developed the falling block actioned single shot rifle for Remington) and was the first of the long line of side ejecting Marlins. However, it was relatively short-lived after being upgraded by the more advanced Model 1894 Marlin and thus was discontinued in 1899. The exterior of this early Marlin is a butter smooth thin plum brown on the frame with a bit more bluish color mixing in and more density of finish on the barrel and magazine ….and is overall a VERY handsome little rifle. Fine wood with no blemishes, standard open sights with long based buckhorn rear barrel sight and pinched blade front. Fine markings. VG++ $1195
