Lock works well and sparks as good as the worn-out flint will spark, so this looks to be a good shooter (after a thorough safety check, ofcourse). These seemingly obsolete Trade Muskets were heavily distributed throughout Africa in the late 1860s and well up into the 1930s to remote locales where even percussion caps would be a luxury. They were inexpensive to make, easy to keep in working condition, and of short enough range of accuracy to not be a serious threat to the local governments. They do tend to be of a crude construction, but functionable, and no effort made to fit parts any more than need be to be a workable firearm. Fine as described insofar as condition, but crude in construction. $465 SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes Antique: Yes |
