Description:
This is a very fine rare antique Dutch DeBeaumont Maastricht Old Model 1873 9.4 mm double action centerfire ordnance Revolver manufactured at the Maastricht Arsenal. It has sharp Arsenal markings on the left side of the frame and the serial number of 95 is on the bottom flat of the barrel as well as on the front face of the cylinder. This revolver was designed to fire a low pressure 9.4 mm black powder cartridge and should not be used with any other cartridge. The official designation of the cartridge was "Scherpe Patroon No.5" which means "Live Cartridge no.5". Six shot cylinder with a 5 inch long Octagon Barrel. The bore is clean and has strong rifling. Cylinder chambers are in fine condition as well. Mechanically the revolver is in excellent condition as it is complete, tight, and functions fine. There are very few marking but all the markings and numbers that are there are clearly visible on metal and can be seen in the photos. . Hardwood grips have original finish and a good tight fit are crack free and show dents and other wear expected of a 150 year old revolver that has seen significant usage. . Bore is very good and bright with strong rifling. Complete with a lanyard ring. The good to very good condition of this historic example can be seen in all the photographs. The only significant pitting on the revolver is close to the hammer as seen in the photos. Also in the photos you can see an old repair to one of the chambers. The "Old Model" revolvers had an octagonal barrel and a serial number with no prefix (as opposed to "New Model" revolvers, that had a round barrel and a letter prefix in front of the serial number). Since this is an “Antique” there is no FFL license is required for transfer but is a copy of your Driver’s License is needed for proof of age. The cost of shipping and insurance is $24.
