Description:

#1436 Springfield 1884 Trapdoor Carbine, 45/70 with very decent bore (7+ on a scale of 10), tight action, 343XXX range. This little Cavalry carbine is a standard 1884 variation but with the following two incorrect earlier features. It has the 1873 dated (1879 style) breechblock and early 1873 style rear sight, but it does have the correct serrated trigger, barrel, lockplate, etc. The metal is smooth plum brown with no pitting of mention and very good markings. The wood is “well used” (to put it mildly) and has numerous dings, bruises and what looks to be pretty rough useage. It has no cartouches remaining due (no doubt) to the excessive wear to the wood in general …and, if I had to make a safe bet, I’d guess that because of the stock condition that this was an old movie gun. But the bore is FAR better than old movie prop house carbines, and that is unusual. G+/VG overall. $1195
