Description:
A nice example of a French military flintlock pistol made at the Charleville Armory. There are no less than  10 proof marks or military markings on this pistol.  Approx. 69 caliber. All brass metal except for the barrel, ramrod (looks like an original), hammer, trigger and screws. The action is very strong.  The barrel is 8" long, and the overall length is 14".

There are proof or military markings at the following locations:on the barrel tang; 2 on the barrel-left side near the lock; i on the lock above the makers name; 1 on the bottom of the trigger guard; 1 on the brass barrel band-right side; 2 on the brass strap- left side opposite the lock; and 3 stampings into the wood - left side above the trigger. Lots of marks to research. The barrel is stamped "1812", presumably the year of manufacture or close after it.

I am selling a large collection.  See all listings under "Romsey"
