The rest of the metal is brass including a VERY heavy octagon BRASS barrel. There is engraving on the tang, butt, trigger guard and the lock. The action is stiff but works on 1/2cock only. It could need only a minor repair but I'm not a gunsmith. There are 3 proof marks on the barrel including an "ELG" (a Belgian mark), an "L" and "LONDON" on top. There are two Birmingham, England proof marks. The wood which extends to the end of the barrel is in very good condition . A handsome piece. I believe this was converted from flintlock and was very nicely done. The barrel is 8 1/2 " long and probably replaced the original flintlock barrel at the time of the conversion to percussion. The overall length is 14". The barrel is .62 caliber The ramrod looks new This would look great on the wall of your den. Antique- No FFL required.
