Description:
Serial #P4635, 7.62mm NATO (.308 Win.), 20 1/2? barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a commercial conversion of an Ishapore 2A1 SMLE to carbine configuration that retains 98-99% of its armorer-applied black Suncorite finish while the non-matching bolt has an overall dull gray finish with scattered small spots of pinprick pitting throughout. The forend and upper handguard were altered for the conversion and the wood is otherwise in excellent shape with only a few very minor handling marks and small blemishes scattered about the wood. The carbine comes with a single 7.62mm Indian magazine and the rear sight adjustment thumb-piece is missing but this should be easy to replace. This is a very nice 7.62mm Lee rifle in a handy configuration. There is some speculation that these were done by the Indian Military. We could find no reference to that claim. We have seen others in the exact configuration. So they are possibly done by one company post sale of surplus. FFL
