Description:
A beautifully made percussion Target Pistol in excellent condition. The nicely grained walnut wood has only a few very minor marks and is otherwise perfect. The grip area is carved and the # 101 appears on each side. The forward end of the stock has a beautiful carved design. The hammer, lock, barrel tang, trigger guard and finger rest and butt cap are all richly engraved. The octagon barrel, finished in the white, is 8" long and the overall length is 13 & 1/2". There are adjustment screws for the trigger and the rear sight. The action is strong. It is 45 caliber. Other than the barrel, most of the metal has been blued and 95% + of that original finish remains. There is a number 1 on the barrel so this may  have been  one of a pair originally.

I have recently confirmed that this pistol was made in France, circa 1850.

I am selling a large collection.   See all listings under "Romsey".
