Spencer 1860 carbine .50-56 Caliber Spencer Repeating Rifle Company. Metal and Wood in very good condition.
All marking very clean and sharp.
Inspector Generals stamp very clear ( JWR, James Wolfe Ripley was inspector general from 1861-1863).
The Bore is bright and sharp.
SERIAL NUMBER: 12,414
Carbine numbers start 11,001, making this carbine the 1,413th produced. The first 7,000 carbines were delived on Oct. 1863. ( information from ' Spencer Repeating Rifle Company.) This must have been in that delivered.
This Spencer has a stabler magazine cut-off switch, this must have been installed after 1865
