Description:
I am pleased to offer this very special Merkel O/U game gun engraved by Master Engraver Karola Knoth and custom stocked with a highly figured piece of walnut by Dave Sinnerton from the UK. In a break from his normal practice Knoth actually engraved both sideplates. The right side depicts four pheasants flushing along a fence line. The left sideplate displays five quail flushing from rocky terrain. The remainder of the frame, the breech end of the barrels, and the trigger guard are all profusely engraved as can be seen in the photos. *** It has 28” barrels with five Briley thin walled choked tubes and is topped by a solid cross-hatched rib. It is chambered for 16 gauge 2-3/4” cartridges. *** A fabulous piece of rich, dark walnut was custom made for this gun by famed English stockmaker David Sinnerton. It has a straight hand grip and a slim field forend. The wood finish is in near perfect condition with a few handling marks including two small nicks on the right hand side. Checkering is crisp. Stock dimensions are 14-1/4” to a checkered butt by 1-3/8” by 2-1/8”. Slightly cast off for the right hand shot. *** It was made in 2012 and weighs 6 lb 9 oz. Comes in it original box with five Briley thin wall choke tubes. *** Overall this great Merkel is in excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition. It balances and handles like a dream. Great travel hunting or clays gun.
