Description:
SOLD ** Winchesterr Model 63 High Grade, 1997 only, RARE, New in Box Winchester Model 63, “…the finest self-loading .22 rimfire of all time” quoted from Gamefield Classics co-authored by Michael McIntosh and Bill Headrick. This is the Limited Edition 1 of 1000 High Grade manufactured by Winchester in 1997. Features include a fancy stock, checkered, with metal work in highly polished blue and engraved with gold-filled rabbits on one side and gold-fllled squirrels on the other, with pleasing gold wire borders. The barrel is 23” and the tubular magazine holds 10 rounds. McIntosh and Headrick wrote: “The Model 63 was so smooth and so quick to fire that it became the darling of Winchester’s exhibition shooters. Ad Topperwein ended his career with a Model 63. He used the self-loaders to draw his famous Indian-head silhouettes with bullet holes and used them also to shoot nearly 20,000 hand-thrown two-inch wood blocks (he missed one after14,000 straight, but no more after that.) Like many of the great Winchesters, the Model 63 fell victim to its inherent quality. A gun that doesn’t wear out doesn’t need to be replaced. They were pricey toward the end and now are pricier still. Small matter, though, when you are talking about the finest self-loading .22… of all time.” This special limited edition is numbered 792 of 1000 and is new in the box with all papers. Scope is a Bushnell Scopechief IV 3x-9x (big game scope) in Leupold Tip-off rings. Price is $1599 with scope. Shipping $45 to any of the lower 48 states. Buyer must furnish current FFL copy for shipping. Buyer has 3-day full refund non-firing return privilege. Seller is the author of The Rifleman’s Rifle (Winchester pre-64 Model 70s) and will furnish a Letter of Provenance that this rifle is from his collection.
