Description: NSN, .58 Caliber, 40" barrel with a fair-good bore that has dark spots of pitting within the grooves. The metal of this 1863 dated musket (matching on lock plate and barrel tang) have turned to a mottled gray and plum-brown patina throughout with mild freckling at the muzzle as well as along the breech of the barrel and the on the lock. There is further mild surface pitting and oxidation present on the hammer, trigger guard, barrel bands, nosecap, and on the ramrod with dark streaks of patina around the breech-end of the barrel and vacant rear sight dovetail. The walnut stock has been lightly sanded with a very thin oil finish applied over scattered small handling marks and blemishes. There are some small surface scratches through the oil along its length but mostly concentrated on the left side opposite the lock where the cartouche is faint but still discernible. The mechanism is still tight and fully functional and the musket rates good condition overall. Antique SOLD Antique: Yes Manufacturer: Colt Model: 1863 Caliber Info: .58 Cal Gauge Info: .58 Cal |
