Description:
This is a 1952 dated set, manufactured by A.K. & S., and intended for installation in armored vehicles such as the Centurion battle tank (similar in shape to trench/battery commander binocular periscopes but without any provisions for mounting to a tripod). The optics are 10 x 40 with range graduations in the right eye-piece and spring-loaded sun shades on the objective lens housings. The housing has a mounting bracket near the top and has an inter-pupillary adjustment knob above the eye-pieces. The ocular lenses are focused independently and are equipped with conical black rubber eye-cups. The optics are crisp and clear and the scope set is housed in an original Mk. 2 metal case. Both the scope set and the case are in excellent condition with only minor flaking of the paint and some minor handling marks here and there. This is a great piece of armored fighting vehicle memorabilia and would make a great addition to any collection.
