The name Krieghoff is synonymous with quality and they topped the charts with the "Essencia" model game gun.  Mostly known for their competition over/under guns, it was a departure in 2003 when they came up with a true, hand built, lightweight game gun, looking for all the world to be one of Britain's best.  The back action sidelock internals are intricately mated and gold washed, a work of art.  Being a true "BEST GUN" the wood and metal fit is meticulous, the handling characteristics superb.  At 5lbs. 15oz. and dynamically balanced in hand, it naturally comes to point like a BEST gun should.  In 2007 the Essencia was finally produced with a true "baby frame" for 28ga. and .410 guns.  Eye candy for sure.  Gorgeous case colors, delicate scroll engraving, well figured walnut all come together to make a delightful small gauge gun.  A very rounded action and stock, cocking indicators, auto safety, checkered butt, fine leather case and cover, are all standard features.  Production of the Essencia is less than 20 guns per year, less than 200 made to date, and the .410 guns are near impossible to find.  It will take almost 2 years to have one built to order at a cost approaching $30K, or you can buy this as new Essencia now for thousands less.  These are excellent investment quality shotguns that are a joy to shoot and display.
