W.R. Pape Percussion Sporting Rifle .45 Caliber 30" Barrel Weight 5 Lbs. 10 Oz. According to the book "British Gunmakers, Vol. 2", This gun was made in 1859, two years after setting up shop. W.R. Pape was a well known gun manufacturer in Newcastle upon Tyne, from 1857 to his retirement in 1898. Metal sports brown patina, with areas of staining and some pitting. Mechanically sound, with somewhat dark bore. Wood shows plenty of character, with scratches and crazing to finish. A fine example from a famous English maker.
