Description:
This is a large set of (doppelfernrohr) binoculars (10 x 80) with 45 degree offset ocular lenses. The housing retains 85-90% of the original blue-gray painted finish with russet-primed metal visible along the edges and projections where the paint has worn off. The housing is maker coded ?dkl? (Schneider Optik of Kreuznach) with both blue circle and red ?X? lubrication symbols. The binoculars have the removable objective sunshades but are missing the other accessories including the large padded eyeshield. Nevertheless, the optics are still clear (if slightly cloudy) and the inter-pupillary adjustment still functions. This is an impressive piece of German World War II optics in good-near very good condition overall. {Ref. ?Eyes of the Wehrmacht ? An Illustrated Guide to German World War II 10 x 80 Binoculars? by Stephen Rohan; 1996}
