VOGLER/SALEM, NC”. Tiger maple half stock and ramrod housing. Brass mounts including an ornate trigger guard with reversed forward finger guide and long toe plate. Back action lock stamped “FIELD &/ANGSTROTH/PHILADELPHIA”. Timothy Vogler was part of a well known family of gunmaker’s and worked at both Salem and Wachovia, N.C. Born in 1828 and died in 1896. He was the son of Christopher Vogler and also brother of Nathaniel Vogler also well known gunmakers. Shows signs of long use but is very handsome and original attic condition with the original dark metal patina. From a descendant of the Hancock/Moser family of Salem, North Carolina.
