AMERICAN REVOLUTIONARY WAR FRENCH VIVE LE ROI HUSSAR OFFICER’S SABER CIRCA 1765-1785. 36” o/a with 31” blade engraved “VIVE LE ROI” and “VIVAT HUSSAR” and with a hussar on horse with upraised saber as well as other martial motifs. Iron guard and hilt with leather grip and iron grip wire. Had been equipped with folding outer guard which has been removed probably intentionally. Otherwise in 100% complete and original very good condition overall. Nice dark attic patina and very crisp blade engraving. Type that could have been carried by French Officer’s during the American Revolution. Extra scarce with “VIVE LE ROI” and “HUSSAR” motifs.
