Beautiful carving by a fine carver in the New England Primitive tradition. Joel Soper was a well known inventor of farm machinery from the Wethersfield area. One of his inventions facilitated the separation of Wheat from the husk. He was also a Mason and Treasurer of his Lodge. He must also have been a Mayflower Pilgrim descendant as one of the motifs the five point “MAYFLOWER”. Lovely patina and 100% original. SOLD |
