Description:
#1008, Duane Wiebe Gunmaker 1008: A Complete and Total Wiebe Custom 500 Jeffery on a 1909 Argentine Mauser Action #F5808 with a 24 1/2" barrel, Profiled 1/4 Rib with 1 fixed standing rear sight with a gold sight line, Barrel band sling eye, Barrel band front ramp with a spring locking sight protector, 1909 Argentine Mauser action with an added single square on the bridge of the action, Oberndorf style bolt knob and handle, 3-position Model 70 style wing safety, Heavy duty Blackburn belly magazine with a straddle hinged floorplate with a center bow release, Extended rear trigger guard strap to the grip cap, Extended receiver tang strap that goes over the comb of the stock, Blackburn trigger, All metal is rust blued, A pure classic stock using a very nice piece of Circassian Walnut, European style cheekpiece with a shadowline, Wrap around flat-top checkering, 2 cross bolts, 2 screw tiedown rear sling eye, Ebony forend tip, A very neat trapdoor grip cap that has the appearance of a standard steel cap, 10 lbs. dead-up, 15 1/4" LOP over a 1 1/8" leather pad, Cast-Off for the right hand at 1/4" at the heel and 5/16" at the toe of the stock, It comes to the hand with ease and the sights are dead-on; It then had a very subtle but nice touch of engraving by Mr. Roger Kehr on the screw heads, crossbolts, single square bridge, matting on the receiver ring, border and stipple on the quarter rib and the trap grip cap. There are no apologies with this Wiebe Classic; if you compare it to any of the pre-war British big bores this piece makes them look very basic and plain. The overall fit, finish, handling and proper dimensions are well beyond any of the early classic pieces. This piece is accurate and remains in 99% condition, it functions, feeds and looks like a real Big Bore bolt rifle that is ready for some very serious work.
