Payment Types Accepted: Credit Card, Cashiers Check Description: Smith made the first cartridge handgun for the military and in 1870, brought out the first big bore cartridge revolver. Approximately the first 1500 handguns made had the oil hole feature. The majority of the first 1500 were made for the military and the survival rate for a civilian American made in 1870 is non existant. This example is in superb, never touched condition. It is a standard American in all aspects with wood grips and 8" barrel in 44 S&W. Overall, the gun retains at least 85% of the original nickel finish. The hammer and trigger guard retain most of their case colors. The grips are fantastic and the grips screw is still fire blue. Bore is mint and lock up is like a new gun. Bottom line, probably one of the finest first year production oil hole models extant. And if that is not enough, it comes with a form fitted near mint circa 1870 slim jim that is actually pictured in the Smith & Wesson American Model book by Pate on page 342. It is priced as a rig but you can take off $2000 if you do not want the leather.
