This is one of finest antique custom target rifles I have ever seen. It is in the venerable 40-60 Winchester and a favorite among serious antique single shot target competition marksmen who love the old classic calibers. This a MAN'S GUN! The piece is flawlessly executed with all the right stuff and the original owner had won several national shooting championships with it in it's class. The bore is stone mint. The bluing is 199% and the case is simply gorgeous and virtually perfect. The stocks are fancy tiger stripe walnut with multipoint checkering and the stock has a extended wrap around butt plate and a cheek piece as an added touch. The period cleaning rod is made of the same tiger stripe wood. The 30" target barrel is a #5 extra heavy for added accuracy and has a double crowned muzzle to protect the end of the rifling The sights are the best of the best - long range double micrometer vernier with windage knob. The quality of the machine work on the sight is like a fine watch. It also has an adjustable Hadly Eye cup. The front is a globe with replaceable reticules. It also has a conventional rear sight for fun shooting or hunting. The receive shows no wear whatsoever. The flawless workmanship on the gun today including $1500 in premium sight would have to be 5-7K + the cost of an extra super clean rolling block receiver.
