Description:
Serial #84006, .30-40 Krag, 29” barrel with a very good bore that has some mild freckling within the grooves. This is an 1896 dated rifle that has 85-90% blue remaining on the barrel with some gray fading at the muzzle and on the balance of the metal. The receiver has about 70-75% of the original blue remaining with the balance faded to a smooth pewter gray patina on the remainder. The magazine door likewise has much of the original blue remaining mixed with some very mild freckling and fading along the high edges. The bolt is lightly freckled bright gray with darker spots on the handle and the extractor still has much of the original bright fire blue remaining. The walnut stock and handguards have numerous small handling marks and surface blemishes visible in the excellent added military oil finish and the cartouche is visible but illegible. A segmented cleaning rod and metal oiler are present in the stock compartment and both an original brass muzzle cover and World War I era Kerr No-Buckl sling are also included. This is a handsome 1896 Krag overall and is in fine-near excellent condition. Antique
