Description:
Serial #22249, .30-40 Krag, 29” barrel with a very good bore that has some mild freckling within the grooves. This is an 1894 dated rifle that has 85-90% blue remaining on the barrel with some gray fading at the muzzle and on the balance of the metal. The receiver has about 70-75% of the original blue remaining with the balance faded to mild gray mixing with even mild freckling, heaviest on the left side of the magazine housing and on the magazine door. The bolt is bright gray with dark freckling mixing in (most noticeably on the handle) and the extractor still has traces of the original bright fire blue remaining. The walnut stock and handguards have numerous small handling marks and surface blemishes throughout the added oil finish. The ramrod channel was filled during the conversion and the cartouche is visible but illegible. A segmented cleaning rod and metal oiler are present in the stock compartment. The rifle includes an original brass muzzle cover and is in fine condition overall. This is a handsome early Krag modified to Spanish-American War specs. Antique
