Description:

Sharps New Model 1863 Civil War Carbine 52 Caliber. Iron furniture. 22” bbl.,39” overall length.  Marking near breech: NEW MODEL 1863.markings on bbl. SHARPS MANUFG.CO./HARTFORD, CONN. Markings left side of receiver: C. Sharps Pat. Sept.12th,1848, ,: C. Sharps’ Pat. / Oct./5/1852 upper front section of lock, R.S. Lawrence pat. April 12, 1859; metal markings are all very readable. 2 cartouches on upper left of stock near receiver, Inspector mark “H” on receiver. Walnut stock has been varnished. Ser. # C2429 (correct ser# range)

CONDITION: Barrel,  bbl. Bands, and sight are a nice blue 70-80%, case hardening mostly present , some has turned grey/silver. Wood has a few dents, dings and 2 noticeable dents on upper left, etc. forestock and is fine. Bore appears to be in fine condition with 70+% of the rifling and a little corrosion in the bore or chamber. Works perfectly mechanically. Is fine condition overall; excellent shooter-have your smith check it out.

 

Nice old original Sharps percussion carbine –not much used and definitely not abused. Hard to find these  in this condition; many of the Sharps carbines were factory refinished as conversions to cartridge. (14-73)
