Description:
This is a Sharps New Model 1859 Percussion breach-loading rifle with saber bayonet lug. It has a 3 band 30” barrel with a very good shinny bore, only a very small amount of fine corrosion at the rear end of the bore. All of the markings are sharp and clear. The barrel retains about 80% blue and the receiver still shows dark case colors. The mechanical function is very good sharp and crisp. This is a very tight and solid Sharps rifle and the wood has only a few storage dings and dents. The serial number is 33720 so this was made between 1859 and 1861. There were 129000 rifles and carbines made from 1859-1865.
