An as found Civil War Potsdam musket with a paper tag fixed to the stock behind the top tang, a former museum musket , can't read the old tag. This musket has a 42 3/4" barrel that has brown surface patina, and the bolster area has encrusted residue from being fired quite often. This gun speaks of heavy battle use, and should be left alone and not cleaned up. these muskets were imported to the North and South. The European hard-wood stock is very good, and comes with an original ram-rod. Will install another nipple as this one is flattened! Caliber looks like a .72 smooth bore.
