Description:
Serial #560813, .45-70, 32 1/2? barrel with a fine, bright bore that has a small amount of mild freckling within the grooves. This ramrod bayonet-equipped rifle retains traces of the original blue on the barrel and receiver with the balance age-toned to a mottled plum-brown patina while the lock has about 50-60% of the original blue with the remainder faded to mottled gray-brown color. The 1884 dated breech block has some bright original color case-hardening remaining that mixes with even plum-brown and gray on the exterior and is still quite vivid on the underside. The walnut stock has an added military oil finish over unsanded wood with a few scattered handling marks, the cartouche is no longer visible on the left side of the wrist, and the stock compartment is empty. This is a great looking Trapdoor in very good-near fine condition, with a tight lock-up, and would make a nice addition to a collection. Antique
