Description:
U.S. M1D Garand .30-06 Sprg. Sniper Rifle w/ Winchester receiver s/n: 1309800 (1943 mfg.) receiver is marked “ U.S. Rifle Cal. .30 M1 Winchester 1309800”, gun has 24” Springfield barrel marked “S-A-1-52” w/ Hart Mfg. M2 Flash Hider and distinctive M84 scope mounting block, walnut stock w/ sharp circle “P” cartouche on front of pistol grip, leather cheekpiece is laced on to the butt and marked “MRT 1-52”, and single point attachment M84 2.2X scope marked “TELESCOPE M84 SERIAL NO. 17145” w/ post reticle. This gun has 98% original parkerized metal finish as well as original stock finish w/ dents and handling marks one would expect, there is a small drill hole under the dark chestnut color leather cheekpiece which is consistent with the practice of screwing the cheekpiece to the rifle to prevent it from slipping forward. Its overall condition consistent w/ the rifle as is the sling's. The bore is excellent, scope retains 98% original black paint w/ rubber eye gasket also in excellent shape, adjustment knobs work and their protective caps are in place; optics are excellent and clear as well. There is a an almost illegible sticker on the heel of the receiver that appears to be written in Norwegian or Danish, which means this gun could likely be a Century Arms imports from the 80's and 90's. There are no other indications or markings on this gun. Overall this is an excellent example of Korean Conflict era M1D that has consistent evidence of its history and originality that is in high condition w/ the very desirable Winchester receiver, hard to find one better.
