S/N 862415 was manufactured in 1919. It has a special order short magazine and shotgun butt and is chambered in the popular 38-55 cartridge. The barrel is darkening but still has excellent rifling. The wood on this one is pretty nice with very few dents or handling marks. The receiver has silvered out. The barrel and tube retain most of thier blue, though it's thinning. There is one area of very minor pitting on the barrel by the barrel band. A pretty nice and hard to come by Winchester.  Special order carbines are very hard to find and doubly so when it comes to the  38-55. Factory records indicate shpped on 6-5-17 with no other information.
